3 Things to Looks for in Your Yard for Mosquito Control

As the summer starts to hit, you will be using your backyards more and more often. While we are having fun, playing with our friends and family, mosquitoes are often overlooked as a potential problem.

Did you know, there are things you can do to help with mosquito control

There is nothing worse than coming inside after a full day of playing to notice you have several bites, or even worse, have your evening cut short due to these pets.

While using a professional is the most successful way to ensure you have complete mosquito control, there are a few things you can be doing in between your treatments to stay mosquito-free all season long.

Here are three things you should look for in between your treatments to ensure you are keeping the mosquitoes out of your yard.

1. Children’s toys

With most of the playing moving outdoors, the toys are following. Many of these toys are created to hold water or have water run through them.

Toys like water tables can provide a full day of fun, but we need to remember to toss all water out at the end of the day, standing water is a great breeding habitat for mosquitoes.

2. Dead Leaves

Keeping your yard clean is a great way to eliminate potential breeding sites and give your yard that great summer look! Dead leaves and grass clippings are a great place for mosquitoes, and even ticks, to live. Make sure you are tossing these into the trash whenever possible.

3. Tarps

The tarps that cover your boat, grill, fireplace, and other items are one of the most overlooked areas when it comes to keeping your yard mosquito-free. You should do a brief walk-through of your yard and shake out any water that may be on the tarps, especially after it rains.

While our specialists are working to keep your yard mosquito-free, there are a few things you should do to help assist in the efforts. Most of those include ensuring there is no standing water in your yard.

This is commonly found in children’s toys left in the yard, dead leaves, and tarps. Doing a quick walk of your yard once a week will help keep these pests away from you and your family.
